One of the best loyal, faithful, lovable family pets around. A very sociable dog that is extremely patient, which is great for children and tolerable of other pets. They definitely want to make friends and socialize. Very sweet and well mannered makes them a pet you will hardly complain about.

They have a high energy level, so lots of play does well by them. Playing ball, Frisbee, going swimming anything that has you participating and them playing keeps them well balanced. However keep in mind they can suffer from separation anxiety if you are gone too long.

A high level of intelligence makes them very easy for training, but, do not even think of having one as a guard dog. They may bark at a stranger but after a few moments they would love to get some affection from them.

They are popular service dogs for the blind and effective therapy dogs. Great hunting partners as well.

We read that the Golden Retriever does not want to be the leader but totally expects you the owner to take the lead. Loyal and trusting you can’t go wrong here. This breed has all the qualities a warm, inviting household would be looking for.

Intelligence makes it easy to train, so walking the dog is great, you probably won’t be pulled down the street. Going to the beach? This breed loves the water and their coat is water-repellant, so again, more fun for the whole family.

Not known to be barkers, they can however bark at a stranger approaching the house, it is loud, so a good thing it’s not a regular habit. We also rate the Golden Retriever as a great pick for the whole family.
